Red Psycho Llama: A tiny hotel, the largest bedroom has 5 beds, all rooms with private bathrooms. Bedrooms are available with 4 beds for women only. They care about the environment, so the decor is made from recycled materials. They have a terrace and breakfast is included. It is located on a secluded street in Miraflores, from 46 soles or $15 per person.
Dragon Fly Hostels: From here you can walk to the boardwalk and it is centrally located on a somewhat busy street. It has a bar and they hold BBQ nights on the roof. The kitchen is free to use and breakfast is included. From 31 soles or 10 USD, stay in a room for 10 people, 78 soles or 25 USD for a matrimonial room with a shared bathroom, 99 soles or 32 USD with a private bathroom. They have another hostel in Cusco with the same price range.
Kaminu: Near the Bajada de Baños in Barranco, the touristic-hipster district of Lima. Walk up to reach the Puente de los Suspiros and walk down to get to the beach. It is located on a pedestrian only street, surrounded by large, beautiful houses. Breakfast is included, there is a kitchen and a small garden with a grill and bicycles are available to rent. From 30 soles or 10 USD, stay in a room for 10 people, 78 soles or 25 USD for a matrimonial room with a shared bathroom, 100 soles or 33 USD with a private bathroom and a TV.
Mamá Simona: A new and very well maintained hostel, with a bright patio. It has a kitchen and free breakfast. From 25 soles or 9 USD, stay in a bedroom for 8 people, 33 soles or 11 USD for a bedroom for 4 people with a private bathroom, 90 soles or 30 USD for a matrimonial room with a private bathroom and a TV. It´s about 5 blocks from the Plaza, near Santa Ana. They have also opened a Mamá Simona in the countryside, on the outskirts of Ollantaytambo: close to the train station taking you to Machu Picchu the most economical way. Do not miss spending a few hours on the cobblestone streets of this Inca village, in the hostel´s garden. The prices are almost the same.
La Bohême: In the artistic and steep San Blas, find a small hostel offering 5 bed and various matrimonial rooms with TVs, overlooking the roofs of Cuzco from many of the balconies. The Pre-Columbian designed rooms are small, but brightly painted. They have a central courtyard, where crepes are served for breakfast. La Bohême specializes in crepes and proposes a menu with a wide variety. From 30 soles or 10 USD per bed, 70 soles or 23 USD for a matrimonial room with a shared bathroom and 90 soles or 30 USD with a private bathroom.
Pirwa: This is a chain hostel that has been around for about 10 years, which has 4 hostels located in Cuzco. The Colonial House in the Plaza San Francisco offers the lowest prices for rooms with 13 beds from 20.40 soles or 6.80 USD. The 4 bed room is 28.20 soles or 10 USD. They also have double rooms with private or shared bathrooms. Yes, the atmosphere is young and full of life, with a bar on premises. The Posada del Corregidor is located in the Plaza de Armas. The one located in San Blas is new and offers panoramic views.
Hostal Estrellita: A simple guesthouse hidden in the back of a large house. The service is basic and recommended for backpackers looking for tranquility. Clean and friendly service. Here, you won´t sleep on bunk beds. A simple kitchen is available. Breakfast is served daily. It is located two blocks behind the Qorikancha. From 15 soles or 5 USD per bed in a shared room or 40 soles or 13 USD for a matrimonial room, with shared bathrooms. La Casona: A bright and clean hotel with hints of native decor. It has a cozy inside terrace and rooms with small TVs and private bathrooms (with hot water). It is quiet and spacious. Good quality/prices. Additionally, you can take advantage of the pool, located in another building, 8 blocks away. From 95 soles or 30 USD for a matrimonial room with a fan. Breakfast is offered, 7 soles per person.

Flying Dog: A good option, located at the end of the Malecón Tarapacá. Large, luminous public areas. Find tranquility here near the boardwalk, away from motorcycle-taxi traffic. Some private rooms have nice views of the Itaya River. From 25 soles or 9 USD for a bedroom (4-6 people) with bunk beds and a fan, 30 soles or 10 USD with air conditioning and 90 soles or 30 USD for a matrimonial bedroom with a private bathroom. The Premium rooms have views and air conditioning, from 105 soles or 35 USD. Flying Dog also has 3 hostels in Miraflores, Lima and one in San Blas, Cusco.

Hostal El Colibri: A small, central hostel with good prices. All rooms feature cable TV and private bathrooms. The rooms are small, simple and clean. Along the corridor, opened to the sky, find some beautiful plants, giving this hostel a cozy touch. The matrimonial room is 65 soles or 22 USD with a fan and 85 soles or 28 USD with air conditioning.

Another good option is the Hospedaje Florentina. It is located on a busy street, but extends way back along a tiled hallway, which is much quieter. The rooms are a bit dark, but have an old-fashioned charm. From 60 soles or 20 USD for a simple room and 85 soles or 28 USD for a matrimonial room with a fan. Calle Huallaga 212, 065 233591.
